Picton’s voice on Freedom Camping is very clear: we want a clean, health safe and unpolluted environment in and around the town and throughout Marlborough.
Our view: Freedom camping by NZMCA registered self-contained vehicles only, with all other vehicles staying at the excellent (and low cost) private camping grounds and D.O.C sites available in Picton and throughout Marlborough.
In our opinion, Marlborough’s ratepayers and New Zealand tax payers shouldn’t be paying for facilities, or to clean up rubbish, faeces and damage caused by free campers, who want a free to camp site without on board facilities. Join this group to give voice to the town’s views and find solutions, not expand the problem!
