Freedom Camping

Picton’s voice on Freedom Camping is very clear: we want a clean, healthy, safe and unpolluted environment in and around the town and throughout Marlborough.

Our view: Freedom camping by NZMCA registered self-contained vehicles only, with all other vehicles staying at the excellent (and low cost) private camping grounds and D.O.C sites available in Picton and throughout Marlborough.

In our opinion, Marlborough’s ratepayers and New Zealand tax payers shouldn’t be paying for facilities, or to clean up rubbish, faeces and damage caused by free campers, who want a free to camp site without on board facilities. PS+C has continued to advocate for this with Council during the bylaw review processes.
