Heritage
Telling Picton’s stories to our visitors, making the community proud and making sure future generations know the town’s history – that’s our aim. We plan to do this by both physical and digital means with plaques, interpretation panels, brochures and online. We partner with other organisations to achieve this goal. QR codes on plaques link to a Picton Heritage Trail and people can walk around the town to learn more about our rich heritage.
We welcome any ideas from the community for this project. Join this active group to help ensure Picton’s history is visible to all. Submission to Marlborough District Council Annual Plan 2019-20

Around 40 people attended the unveiling of three heritage plaques on Sunday 14 October. All three Picton/Sounds Councillors made speeches and unveiled a plaque each. The Mayor, John Leggett, attended with the Mayoress and there was good media presence. Click here to read more. Submission to Marlborough District Council Long Term Plan 2018-28
